Why join a Haas Alumni Forum?

Forum is the place where

conversations happen

that can’t happen anywhere else.

The secret advantage of successful leaders.

Haas Alumni Forums offer graduates with a Haas, or UC Berkeley affiliation the opportunity to join a powerful, proven model of executive learning and peer support—Peer Forums. Modeled after YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization), members have dubbed these forums “The Secret Advantage of Successful Leaders.”

The Haas Alumni Forums follow on the successful launch of over 38 Forums by Alumni Forum Services for both the Harvard Business School and the Haas School of Business alumni communities.

These groups facilitate continuing and meaningful development through experience-sharing and story-telling in a private board of directors setting comprised of your alumni peers. If you are challenged with a critical issue that impacts your business, forums offer an opportunity to gain new perspectives and new ways to address the issue.

Why Forums are so powerful.

Haas Alumni Forums offer an opportunity to develop the kind of meaningful relationships that are extremely difficult for people to achieve once they have left school. Business prospecting is not the focus of Forum’s program, but there are business opportunities and referrals that may come from sharing and connecting.

  • If you are seeking colleagues to be your most important business confidants, then Forum is where you’ll find them.
  • If you are seeking a place where you can talk about things that matter most in your professional and personal lives, then Forum is where you’ll find it.
  • If you are seeking to find a place where peers will give you feedback and act as a mirror to see yourself more clearly, then Forum is where you’ll find it.
  • If you are seeking a place to live and manifest the Four Guiding Leadership Principles of the Haas School of Business, then Forum is where you’ll experience them.

A Confidential Space

Members commit to confidentiality so that conversations within Forum are never to be repeated, to anyone, at any point in time. This commitment allows Forum to be a safe space where members are comfortable to be open and vulnerable.

A Peer Group with No Conflicts of Interest

Members are vetted to ensure no personal or business conflicts of interest or compromising relationships within each Forum.
Members can bring the conversations that matter most, knowing that Forum is a safe space.

Gaining New Perspectives

Forum members gain new perspectives on their challenges from the personal stories of other members. Each story has its own validity. The listener is afforded the opportunity to take whatever is relevant to his/her situation without being given “advice.”

Open and Honest Conversations in the 5%

Members can have conversations that cannot be held anywhere else. Members seek to share the most impactful parts of their lives: the best 5% and the most difficult 5%. Trust, respect and empathy are the results which often lead to transformative learnings.

“Forum is about establishing a trusted community of business colleagues with whom we confidentially share experiences and develop a respect for each other that transforms each one of us to be better than we can be by ourselves.”
